Carrie E. Essenfeld
Carrie E. Essenfeld is of counsel to the firm and has been practicing law since 2004. She has extensive experience representing debtors, creditors’ committees, liquidation trusts, asset purchasers, examiners and creditors in chapter 11 cases. Ms. Essenfeld has been counsel to both plaintiffs and defendants in preference, fraudulent transfer and other bankruptcy court litigations and her areas of practice include bankruptcy reorganization, liquidation, litigation, out of court restructuring, and general litigation. Ms. Essenfeld also represents corporate clients in chapter 11 cases in matters such as contract assumption/rejection, claims objections and preference defense.
Ms. Essenfeld’s debtor representations include such cases as Agriprocessors, Inc., Salander-O’Reilly Galleries, LLC, Everything but Water LLC and WUWUL LLC (Word World). Her creditor committee representations include Lionel, LLC, Vann’s, Inc., Shapes-Arch Holdings, LLC and PetroRig I Pte Ltd. Ms. Essenfeld also has significant experience representing liquidation trusts and plan administrators in significant national cases including Eastman Kodak Company, Green Field Energy Services, Shapes-Arch Holdings, LLC and Velo Holdings, Inc.
Ms. Essenfeld graduated with a B.S. from Tulane University in 2001. She received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2004. While in law school, she worked as a student clerk for the Robert E. Gerber. Ms. Essenfeld is admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
